Metroid Zero Mission

Games I've Completed, Metroid

This is a Game Boy Advance remake of the original Metroid for the NES. I’ve never finished the NES one since I always get lost, it lacks the map of Super Metroid and the graphics aren’t detailed enough to make the areas as distinct. I’ve finished this one a couple of times now, and it’s excellent. It’s a pretty short game like all Metroids, but the whole thing flows so smoothly and there is no padding.

There is a section at the end where you crash land and have lost your armour and weapons, you then have to crawl through a space pirate base and try to regain your equipment and escape. I don’t think this is in the original, but it’s a highlight of this game. The change of pace, and the reset back to being in constant danger after feeling so powerful in the lead up makes it feel like a palette cleanser.
