This is an RPG on the PlayStation made by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the man that created the Final Fantasy series. It’s set in modern day New York, and you play a cop that is dealing with horrific incidents caused by mitochondria coming alive and trying to take over the Earth.
It’s very silly as most JRPGs are, but I found it great fun. The game is relatively short and never really drags. It’s full of action, has a great battle system and some mechanics around upgrading your guns that are simple but fun to play around with.
When you finish the game you unlock an EX mode where you play again at a harder difficulty but you keep a weapon and armour of your choosing. You also have an extra dungeon based in the Chrysler building. I managed to finish all of that too, and get a different ending. I’m not sure that part was really worth it though.
